[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Minako Arisato
Age: 16 (actual and apparent)
Gender: female
Canon: Persona 3 Portable
Timeline: after the September full moon
Background:
Female Protagonist @ the Shin Megami Tensei wiki! As far as events before the beginning of her canon go, she shares them with the male protagonist which can be found here.
Personality:
Minako looks like the type of girl who would wear her heart on her sleeve, and for the most part, she is. She laughs, she cries, she gets angry, etc. Compared to her male counterpart in the original game, she comes off as a lot more expressive; that's mostly because, well, she just is that much more expressive. Whereas some people might be content to observe quietly or remain silent unless spoken to, Minako will freely interject and voice her own opinions without being asked. While she's more than adaptable and willing to go with what's happening i.e. accept all the strange and bizarre things that come her way, she has her own ideas, and she would rather share them first and go from there instead of bringing them up later if they become necessary. Minako is an opinionated, confident young woman, always ready with a friendly smile and a cheerful response.
As it is though, that smile is as much a part of her natural cheerfulness as it is her defense. Rather than worry other people, Minako tends to hide her own sadness or suffering as much as she can; ironically enough, this ends up worrying some people just as much, if not more, than if she just showed it. This stems from the fact that she simply does not want pity. During the ten years after her parents' death and returning to Iwatodai, Minako moved around a lot, most likely drifting from orphanage to foster home repeatedly, and it's more than probable that she's had her fair share of pity, enough to make her sick of it. This disdain of pity also means that she does not pity others; when she becomes acquainted with a dying young man, he also tells her that he is sick of pity and being pitied by others, but he can tell that unlike other people, Minako does not pity him. Instead of dwelling on the past or regretting what happened, Minako is the type of person to live with all her might.
And live she does! On top of slaying monsters and saving the world at night, Minako has a busy and fulfilling life. While she's informed at the beginning of the game about how it is important for her to make bonds with people, Minako goes out of her way to meet as many people as possible. If she isn't hanging out with friends after school, she's making plans to hang out with them on her off days instead. There isn't anyone she won't be willing to get to know, whether it be classmates, children, senior citizens, or even a sketchy businessman. As she gets to know her friends and acquaintances more, she does her best to help them overcome their problems as much as she can, whether it be through advice or just helping them understand themselves better. However, she's also a bit of a people pleaser; Minako is relatively good at reading people, and she'll sometimes say what she knows the other person wants to hear the most rather than the actual truth. She's not above manipulating things to her liking every now and then. This doesn't make her any less charming though. If anything, it makes her even more likeable, and within a few weeks of transferring it's evident that Minako has quite a few admirers throughout her school.
That's not to say Minako isn't without her flaws and faults though, and over the course of the game she matures considerably. She studies frequently to improve her grades at school and often works part time jobs to earn more money for buying equipment; when she's not doing either of those, she partakes in activities like karaoke or eating strange burgers in order to increase her courage instead. As she participates in different clubs, it becomes evident that Minako is a quick learner. Aside from learning how to handle a naginata with ease, she develops quite the skill for both cooking and sewing. Towards the end of the game, even her homeroom teacher can tell that she's matured incredibly over the school year and into a fine young lady. Still, Minako has certain quirks and oddities that seem to never go away. There are times where she'll act on guts and instinct rather than logic, even when that's not the best way to go about things. Surprisingly enough, Minako is a big eater, sometimes to the point where her stomach will groan and she'll still ask for more. She also has a penchant for just saying outright bizarre things at times, like telling someone that she drinks her coffee with ketchup. Minako has a bit of a mischievous side and enjoys teasing people like that, but when it comes to childlike innocence, she doesn't seem to have the heart to completely correct someone when they're wrong. If anything, she just likes seeing other people happy; what makes it her right to change that?
When it comes down to it, Minako enjoys living her life to the fullest, and for her that means interacting with and knowing as many people as she can. She gets most upset and defensive when it comes to her friends, whether by punishing the person who practically broke her friend's heart or even be willing to kill the person who put a close friend and fellow teammate in the hospital with a coma. Happiness seems to come to her by seeing the people she loves happy; her own room is kept very neat and tidy, almost with a minimalistic approach, but she'll happily give any handcrafts or food she makes to friends when she hangs out with them. All of her most valuable possessions come from things her friends gave to her instead. Despite her own love for being alive, this is likely why she was able to do what she did to seal Nyx away; Minako wanted her friends and loved ones to be able to continue to live, and to protect them she was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Knowing they supported her and believed in her, she was able to choose such a fate with her own hands.
Why is your character a good fit for the setting of Soul Campaign, and what will they do once they are in the game?
Minako is not one to stand on the sidelines when there's work to be done, and when she decides to do something, she puts in all of her effort. With that said, she'll be able to fit in the setting here as she'll do what she can to end the war. Of course she wants and needs to return home, but she won't be against helping out the efforts here. Minako will take up the missions she can, though she'll also simply want to get to know the people here better as well. She's no hero out to save whoever she can, but she'll always lend out a helping hand if someone needs it.
List the abilities your character will still have in Soul Campaign:
Minako will be keeping her skill for the naginata, a spear-type weapon used for slashing instead or piercing or stabbing. While the skill is entirely self-taught, she's become pretty adept with it seeing as how she can take down relatively intelligent and sometimes downright sneaky monsters. As with anyone experienced in dungeon crawling, Minako will still have a good amount of endurance and agility. She'll also still be fairly good at strategics and thinking on her feet. Basically, even without her Personas, Minako isn't someone you'll want to mess with in a fight.
List the weaknesses your character will gain (or lose) in Soul Campaign:
Minako will no longer be able to access her Personae and use them for battle; thus, she won't have any natural weaknesses in regards to element-based attacks or different types of physical attacks. She'll be more like a blank slate once again.
[ MEISTER ]
Soul Description:
cheerful, quirky, charming, optimistic, friendly, outgoing
Minako's soul will appear more or less as she does, keeping the same hairstyle and being pink in color. The numerals "XXII" will be visible on her left side, and her soul will have a small yet confident smile.
Ability:
I just had a question regarding abilities for meisters, or more specifically, creating your own ability that I'd like to get figured out before I apped. In canon, Minako has what is called the 'Wild Card' which allows her to summon and wield multiple Personas rather than one specific Persona. I would like to know if it would be permissible for her mesiter ability to be something similar.
What I have in mind is that her meister ability would more or less be her randomly using one of the already existing meister abilities. There would be a list of the possible abilities she could use, and each one would have a number assigned to it so that when she uses her meister ability, I would RNG to determine what ability she used. She would never know what exactly she was going to get, so even though she'd technically have multiple abilities she wouldn't be able to control it.
So... yeah! I'd just like to know if something like this for a created meister ability would be alright.

First-Person
[Hellooo Death City! There's a new face in town today in the form of one brown-haired, red-eyed girl. She gives a bright, confident smile towards the camera, and if you didn't know any better you might say she looks comfortable. Being adaptable is never a bad thing it seems.]
So, hi there! My name is Minako Arisato, and... Well, I guess you could say that I'm new here. I've never been to America before, but I never thought it would be quite like this if I did visit. I also didn't know there was actually a place called Death City in America, but you learn something new everyday, right?
With all that said though, I hope you don't mind a newbie like me asking a few things. I figure it might be a bit of a stretch seeing as how we can't go home to begin with, but is there any way at all to contact back home? I'd rather not have my friends thinking something terrible happened to me. [Except, well, something clearly did, but she'd at least want to tell them that she was okay rather than a) mysteriously gone, or b) killed by an errant Shadow somewhere or something. Alive and somewhere strange was better than dead after all.] That's the biggest concern I have right now, so thanks a lot to anyone who answers! I appreciate it.
But alright, that's about it! Thanks for taking a look at this, and I'll see you later. [With that, the feed clicks off from her end.]
Third-Person
It's dark. Almost impossibly dark even, and in that moment Minako would trade the darkness for even the eerie, painful glow of the moon during the Dark Hour. In fact, she almost believed it was the Dark Hour and she was in Tartarus, on one of those floors where there was just no light at all and she had somehow gotten separated from her friends once again. It was a bizarrely unlikely scenario, but it was the only one that seem to fit. Minako reached down to her hip to grab her Evoker just in case but--
It wasn't there. Of course it wasn't, just like her naginata was nowhere to be found as well. She wasn't in the Dark Hour because she hadn't been before this--whatever this was. One moment she was stepping off the train from school, the next everything went awfully dark.
So there was that. As three mysterious screens flickered into life though, the whole situation only seemed to get worse. An eyebrow quirks up as the apparent "Death Scythe" says she's now in Death City, Nevada--honestly, what kind of name for a city was that?--but as the man continues, her worry only increases. Dropped into the middle of a war? Witches? And her Personas, what used to be such a strange and mysterious ability but was now simply a familiar extension of herself--she couldn't use them anymore. Sure they came from the "sea of her soul" and all, but... For a second, it almost felt like part of her was missing. New ability or not, it was an uncomfortable thought.
Her own discomfort aside though, she didn't have time for this! It was crazy, and while arguably her regular life wasn't any crazier, she couldn't be here. She already had enemies to defeat and problems to solve. If she took a moment, it would probably have been funny; one day she woke up to mysterious hidden hours and Shadows, the next she woke up to mysterious meister problems and Witches. As excited as she was to living her life in Iwatodai, she wasn't expecting anything like this. And aside all of that already, what about her friends? Did they know, or had their leader suddenly disappeared on them? Was there any way to let them know?
But one thing was for sure: if ending the war was the only way to get back, Minako knew what she was going to do.
Looking at the mirror in her hand, Minako pushed her anxiety aside for the moment. So she's not the only one this happened to, huh? Maybe someone else here would be able to ask the questions on her mind. Besides, she wanted to hear what others like her had to say. There was never any harm in talking.
Putting on a smile, Minako turned on the mirror.
